About me

I’m a writer, narrative strategist, and science communication coach with more than a decade of experience translating research for a variety of audiences through op-eds, talks, profiles, and features.

In my former life as a journalist, I worked with magazines such as Scientific American, Chemical & Engineering News, and Natural History. I led C&EN’s opinion and institutional news desks as a senior editor and served as an editorial project manager for award-winning special projects.

Today, I work with universities, research institutes, and foundations to communicate world-class research. Current and past clients include Columbia University, the Santa Fe Institute, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, Scripps Research, and TEDxNewEngland. I also work one-on-one with experts to share their own work, and some of those talks have been chosen as TED Editor’s Picks.

I have an MA in science writing from Johns Hopkins University and a BA in English literature from William & Mary. Previously, I was a science writing intern with the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a teaching and research assistant at American University. I’ve delivered invited lectures on science communication at Johns Hopkins University and the University of California, San Diego.

When I’m not communicating science, you’ll find me doing improv or catching a movie at the cinema near my home in Western Massachusetts.
